We get asked lots of questions about the Legal Side of the Wedding - so for your reference and understanding we have detailed a few bullet points for some helpful facts before we request information for your Wedding Licence.
If you require any assistance prior to your Wedding Planner contacting you, please let us know!
You will be legally married at Your Wedding Ceremony at your Chosen Venue.
You will be required to give your 'Notice of Marriage' in Cyprus - which we will do with you, known as your 'Pre Wedding Meeting'
We are required to apply for your Wedding Licence no later than ONE working day before the Wedding.
Most people will tell you legally we need THREE days for the licence application - this is not true for the legalities but is advisable so we have the time, without any stress, t run through your day and final planning - including make up and hair trials.
Your Wedding Licence will be Fully Recognised in the UK and in English. You will require to have your Wedding Certificate 'Apostille' Stamped after your Wedding, your Wedding Planner will help you with this, so don't worry.
You will require 2 Witnesses to Witness Your Wedding. These can be anyone over the age of 18 Years Old.
The application process is a little different for Bride & Groom's who are marrying in a Church for an Anglican Ceremony
There is no requirement for our Clients to have been Christened and or attend Services regularly so this option is a little more freely available to explore.
If you require any assistance prior to your Wedding Planner contacting you, please let us know!
With the Anglican Church you can have an Anglican Religious Service at your Venue and or in addition you can have a Church Wedding and then followed by your Reception at an additional venue.
YOU WILL REQUIRE THE FOLLOWING DOCUMENTS
ALL of the ORIGINAL DOCUMENTS MUST be brought to Cyprus for the Pre Wedding Licence Application Meeting.
The Statutory Declaration will be replaced with a Non Impediment Certificate / Declaration - this is still to be confirmed in Cyprus. We will update you all when we have the document to distribute for completion.
The difference between Pre & Post Brexit is the documents you are providing in Cyprus for your Notice of Marriage are required to be 'Apostilled'. This means to be certified that they are true and correct and are to be presented outside the EU. As the UK have now left the EU it is imperative that all the documents required, are apostilled. Do not be concerned about getting the documents apostilled. Marry Me Cyprus has secured an exclusive arrangement with a UK based Notary at special rates for the documents required.
The documents you require to be Apostilled can be done by the 'Apostille of Hague' to which we have appointed to assist you all in the process, with a reduced rate. Follow the link and purchase for £54.00. They will then provide the information on where to send the documents and there turn around time. Assuring us of a First Class service, however we ask you to ensure that this is done no later then 4 weeks before the Wedding (just so we can send copies to the Cyprus Town Hall) and provide us with the reference number provided by them.
Pack up and time to fly!! So this is where we need you to bring the ORIGINAL DOCUMENTS that you have already sent copies of to us. On your arrival to Cyprus, you will be met by your Wedding Planner as scheduled in your 6-12 Week Pre-Wedding Planning Stages and taken to the Town Hall to provide your 'Notice of Marriage'.
YOU WILL REQUIRE : ORIGINALS - NOT COPIES OF:
You will be asked if you would like to have any additional Wedding Certificates at the time of the Wedding. These can range from €12- € 16 each. You will be provided ONE copy when you get married. We advise all our Bride & Grooms to get at least one additional certificate as replacing them is a complex process and a lot more costly!
We get asked many times if your Witnesses need to attend the Town Hall for the Pre Wedding Licence Meeting - this is NOT the case and are NOT required to do so.
We try to scheduled all Wedding Applications from 0830hrs - 0930hrs as the Town Halls become very busy and to alleviate wasting valuable holiday time, attending a little earlier means a quicker process as this is a 'Turn Up' appointment for all Planners, Brides and Venues in each Municipality District. The Wedding Licence Appointment on average takes approximately 30 minutes. There is no formal dress code so holiday clothes are fine , just we ask to be covered up for the respect of our staff and those within the Town Hall.
If you are due to pay your Wedding Licence Fees to the Town Hall, you can pay by means of Debit or Credit Card or Cash. No payment means no licence , no licence means no wedding.
An Apostille Stamp is Required for 2021 Brides who are resident outside of the EU
Following BREXIT, for all UK Citizens, the Marriage Certificate will need to be Apostille Stamped by a Cypriot Notary. Marry Me Cyprus will arrange this for all our Brides at an additional nominal charge. We will make every effort to ensure this Apostille stamp is obtained immediately after the Wedding Day so that you can have your Wedding Licence with you when you return home. In the unlikely event this is not possible (as may be the case during the busy season and reliant upon the Cyprus Government System) then your Wedding Licence will be forwarded to you in the UK by a courier service. This is something which is standard through all Non EU countries and the USA.
Apostille Certificate Service INCLUDING ONE CERTIFICATE €39.50
Additional Certificate EACH ADDITIONAL CERTIFICATE €5.00 each
